Geogrids for Area-wide Repairs

GlasGrid CGL

Composite fibreglass asphalt reinforcement for area-wide repairs of milled surfaces

Product Overview

ADFORS GlasGrid® CGL is a composite material consisting of a solid fibreglass mesh bonded to a non-woven fabric. The glass fibres are coated with a modified polymer ensuring that the fibres are protected, there is sufficient lattice stiffness and optimal layer bonding. The lightweight non-woven fabric supports the efficient bonding of asphalt layers and provides high bitumen absorbency for fast and efficient laying.

The ADFORS GlasGrid CGL geogrid can be installed directly on the milled surface without a leveling asphalt layer. It is especially suitable for repairs on the entire width of the road and for widening lanes. The system serves as asphalt reinforcement and stress-relief, delays the formation of reflective cracks and extends the life of the asphalt cover by up to 300% and saves up to 50% of investment costs associated with maintenance.

Product benefits include:

  • fast and efficient installation
  • optimal absorbency of non-woven asphalt
  • does not damage the geogrid during installation and compaction
  • resistance to the traffic of construction trucks
  • perfect connection of asphalt layers
  • excellent milling properties
  • unlimited recyclability and enhanced properties of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP)

FAQs on this product

Do you also offer geogrid application?

In some countries we have partners offering our products and application as well. For more information please contact our Sales Manager or customer service listed in the contacts section.

Is it possible to receive GlasGrid samples?

We have A4 size samples available. If you are interested, please contact our Sales Manager or customer service listed in the contacts section.

What are the advantages of glass fibers geogrids?

Based on strength/strain ratio, the glass fiber geogrids provide very high ability to resist crack propagation in comparison with geogrids made from different row materials. Glass fiber grids improve the life of an asphalt pavement by 200–300% through reflective crack retardation, limit rutting, bring structural benefit and allow final reuse of interlayer due to recycling of geogrid.

Is GlasGrid millable and recyclable?

Yes, laboratory tests and experience from construction sites confirm that the ADFORS GlasGrid does not show any negative effects during milling and does not affect the depth of milling.  The ADFORG GlasGrid is unlimitedly recyclable and the partial reuse of milled asphalt granulate (including glass fibers) in a new asphalt mixture improves the fatigue behaviour of the recycled asphalt.

Can we use a GlasGrid for airport repairs?

Yes, ADFORS GlasGrid is suitable for airport repairs. It has already been successfully applied at more than 200 airports around the world.
